Products description

The »Sea Film« is ideal for designing rivers, streams and lakes as well as small bodies of water. Since no liquids are used that need to be mixed or heated, using this product is extremely easy. Before starting work, read these instructions carefully.

Step 1 First, roughly sketch the contour of the water on your surface. It doesn't matter whether you use a wooden substructure, a construction made of rigid foam panels or another surface.

Step 2 Next you have to “excavate” the water. This can be done with the help of a router, a box cutter or - in the case of a wooden substructure - done with a jigsaw. A slope of more than 10 mm usually appears unrealistic.

Step 3 You can now transfer this outline to the sea foil.

Step 4 In the next step you have to bevel the embankment. The angle here should be at least 45°. be. However, a flatter angle produces a much more natural result.

Step 5 Now you can design the water bottom. The easiest way to do this is to use the enclosed color sheet. Choose a side whose color you like more and cut the paper to the size of the sea foil. You can cut the color sheet and the sea foil together if you first attach the two parts together (e.g. with the help of adhesive tape). Alternatively, you can of course design your water surface yourself. To do this, you can “excavate” another 5 mm to get some water depth. However, leave a small edge to ensure a surrounding surface for the sea film to rest on. Now you can design the water bottom with paints, small stones or rubbish (bathtub, bicycle, car tires, etc.). Always pay attention to the fact that excessive water depth and bright colors in the model can quickly appear unrealistic. Blue is just a swimming pool!

Step 6 Now you can model the embankment or small islands with the help of FALLER filler (item 180500) and thus optimally adapt the transition to the sea foil .

Step 7 Design the bank area depending on the environment you want to represent on your diorama or model system. The best way to do this is to use the brown Colofix-Color landscape glue (item 170660). Then sprinkle the desired materials, e.g. FALLER PREMIUM scattering material (item 170728) into the still wet glue. You can also remove sections from our landscape segments (e.g. Art. 180474) and distribute them on the embankment. You will get the best result if you use the “Gras-Fix” grassing device to finish off different grass fibers. (Art. 180691) into the still wet glue.

Step 8 Finally, the small details need to be worked out. By placing floats, boats, animals or something similar on the surface of the water (floats can be cut with a craft knife). You can get the perfect water surface by grating. To do this, wipe a very thin layer of white paint onto the surface with an almost dry brush. Make sure to only use this effect in a few well-dosed areas, as an area that is too heavily grated tends to appear unnatural.
